Today, I am here to teach how to trap soccer ball in the air with feet. In soccer there are lots of situations you need to trap ball in the air. The best result of trapping is the ball should land where you can reach it by one step. There are two most common ways to trap the ball in the air with feet. You need to trap the ball with different method depends on how high and fast ball is and how much pressure are you under.
The first way is the basic one. When you see the ball in the air, position yourself where that ball will drop. Place your feet where the ball will drop. The ball should make contact around the toe. This is the quickest trap to make move after if you trap it perfectly. This is the most effective trap under the pressure, because if you successfully make this trap you can take another touch right after. You can trap high ball with this but not the fast ball. Most of players use this trapping to receive short lob or chip pass.
The second way is harder. You position yourself where ball will drop and raise your leg when the ball is dropping. When you contact the ball, drag your leg down. This is better at higher balls. When you pull your leg down, it takes lots of speed from ball, provide soft touch on the ball. This is effective when you are not under pressure.
These are two most common ways to trap ball in the air. These trappings are the most basic skill during soccer so they have lots of usages. Practice it and make it to your skill. Thank you.
