Everyone has lucky moment to meet someone unexpected and get impressed by him or her. Mine was very special and he taught me great lessons. I want to talk about that.
When I was junior in old school, Brewster Academy, I was in second varsity basketball team. We had practice on Saturday morning so I went to dinning hall to get something to eat before practice. At there I saw tall African-American guy talking to someone and I've never seen neither of them. I somehow came up with guess that tall guy might be basketball player so I searched few alumni from our school and found out that guy was T.J Warren. T.J Warren, starting small forward for Phenix Suns, who graduated Brewster in 2012. He was one of the most famous basketball alumni from our school. His jersey was hanging on the wall of athletic building. I went to talk to him because I was so surprised to see him. I asked him if he is actual T.J Warren and he said yes.
After I had little chat with T.J Warren, I went to gym for the practice. During our practice, T.J Warren showed up to gym to look his jersey on the wall. We all saw him and everyone was excited to see him. We all went to talk to him and he recognised me. He volunteered to teach us some basketball skills and it was really helpful. The fact active NBA player teaching us some skills were incredible and everyone was working hard to learn as much as we can.
After that session, fortunately I sat down with him in lunch table. He was first NBA player I've ever seen so I had so many questions to him. I asked him how he motivate himself in daily basis and his response inspired me so much. He said "When I wake up in the morning, I thank god that I came this far. I was just normal kid and now I am living my dream life. I stay humble that not many people even made this far. I motivate myself that so many people sacrificed their dreams and life to help me to get here. I play for them and achieve their dream for them. I still have so many dreams to achieve so I cannot stop." That was not a something I never thought about.
Staying humble and fighting to accomplish others' goal who sacrificed their dreams and life for you. I never done anything like that. I always lived selfish life, doing what I want to do. However I did not put my effort in to achieve others' goal. My parents and whole family have their own wishes and expectations on me and I never fulfilled their dreams on me.
What T.J Warren said woke my spirit up and motivated me that I should thank people who cares and loves me and pay them back with my best effort and result. I picked up his words and made it to mine.
Every morning I thank god to give me this lucky life. After that I do my work with my best effort. I try to put my best effort on everything but that is really hard to me so I focus on putting enough effort I would not regret about it in the future.
I do not think T.J Warren still remembers me because it had been about a year ago when he met me. However if I have chance to meet him again in the future, I want to thank him for teaching me great life lesson.
